early morning euphoria

i'm really glad i caught President Bush's address over the webcast, yesterday--here's the archived bit of it. just watching it gives me a pang of nostalgia, and every time they play the Respect: Introduction to the USMMA video, I get this sudden urge to run laps and have people scream at me. if i breathe in deep enough, i swear i can smell just the faintest whiff of brass-o. Marco said the video looked a bit more hardcore than real Indoc. i have a link to it on the right hand bar under media, so you can check it out and share your views on it. no doubt most of the people that do view it will remember an Indoc much more difficult than ours.

to be honest, i'm still in awe from the whole ceremony--202 graduates, with the valedictorian graduating with a 3.8 g.p.a. (and majoring in marine engineering systems, of all majors--at least if i heard correctly)--i don't think even civilian colleges boast such an amazing track record. at CSU Pomona, you'd be lucky to get over a 3.0 in the five years it took to get through all your classes--and most people consider Pomona to have an awesome engineering program. well, congratulations to the USMMA Class of 2006, wherever you may be. fair winds and following seas...

my only regret now is i don't know what to call you anymore. i guess i'll just stick with "sir" or "ma'am". Billy recommends first names at this point, but it just feels weird. *lol*

ugh, *rambling* i don't know what i'm doing up right now... oh, right, my schedule got thrown off yesterday...

just like the saw threw off the flooring plans: we would be in the middle of sawing through the board and the wire would snap clear off the saw. the whole situation was an acute headache with a pinch of frustration mixed in. finally, after just eight rows of boards laid, we gave up flooring for other, more trivial pursuits. today, the plan might end up calling for a visit to Nick's garage for a better saw. thank God for good neighbors. unless they happen to be cats.

while we were scrambling over our amateur flooring, my cat ripped up a decortive parasol to shreds. don't worry, it was more of a souvenir (like the kinds you get in a martini--but from a disneyland drink, non-alcoholic, of course) and i rather liked the color. now, i'll have to get it replaced so that my cat can destroy it all over, again. *sigh*
